Training Programs
Graduate Level Practicum
Masters and doctoral students who meet the following requirements and are accepted into the program:
- Prior practicum placement or equivalent work experience
- Coursework in testing and assessment
- Coursework in family systems, psychotherapeutic theories, and child and adult development
- 20 hour weekly commitment for a minimum of two semesters
- Commitment to two evenings per week.
- Wednesday mornings between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. are non-negotiable required hours
Provisions for Accepted Students
- Individual and group psychotherapy supervision weekly
- Play therapy supervision weekly
- Testing and evaluation supervision weekly for all students engaged in testing procedures
- 1 1/2 hours of core clinical training weekly including theory and application as well as internal clinical procedures
- Opportunities to co-lead psychoeducational groups
- Counseling experience in individual, couple, family, and play therapy
- Opportunity to conduct psychological evaluations
- Case consultation with peers, community experts, and supervision staff
LPC or LMSW Intership
For professionals who have LPC-I or LMSW status, Galaxy offers an internship program to assist their completion of the required supervised work. Galaxy has Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisors (LPC-S) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW-S) on staff who offer individual and weekly group supervision. At this time, all Internship opportunities provide a minimal stipend. During your internship, you have the opportunity to receive free supervision as long as you maintain a minimum of 20 direct client contact hours a month.
